This set is manufactured by a unique process which makes use of highly tempered windings - which translates to less mechanical wear, and longer string life.
Because we've minimized the galvanic couple (see the chemistry page), we've eliminated the use of a ductile tin layer (as is used with conventional steel core strings). In fact, we've eliminated the use of all "sound dampening materials" within the speaking length of the string. The result - less mechanical wear, and a longer "bright period."
We've developed a patent pending sheathed-end design, which prevents recoil of the highly tempered windings both during storage and during installation. These sheathed-ends should not be removed until the guitar is strung, otherwise recoil will occur (see directions for use)
The "break-in" period for this set is longer than that of the nickel set (both take longer than conventional steel core strings).
This set has a slightly longer "bright period" than the nickel wound set (both sets have longer bright periods than conventional steel core sets).
The duration of the "mellow plateau" period is indefinite. It exceeds that of conventional strings by orders of magnitude. However, unlike our nickel set (which is corrosion-proof), the phosphor bronze set is corrosion resistant, and winding corrosion eventually occurs. Still, we have not yet had a string enter the "dead period".
This set projects sound characteristics that are similar to those of new, conventional steel-core phosphor bronze strings, but with a slight difference in timbre which is uniquely "titanium". The "mellow plateau" of this set yields a tone which is distinctly different from the tone of the nickel set.
The cumulative tension is lower than that of convention steel-core sets of similar diameters. This translates to less instrument stress, and easier playability.
